City of Somerville, MA Employee Self Service (ESS)

Welcome!

Please click on the arrow at the top right corner of this window to begin logging into ESS.
Be sure to USE YOUR EMPLOYEE ID NUMBER as your username for logging in.

You can reset your ESS password yourself by taking the following steps:

1. Go to the ESS website https://somervillema.munisselfservice.com/ and click on “LOG IN” in the upper right corner
2. Click on the “forgot your password” link
3. On the next screen, enter your Employee ID number as your Username, and click on “SEND HINT”
4. Check your email for a message from noreply@tylertech.com with the subject “Request Password Hint”
5. The email will have a Password Hint. If that reminds you of your password, go back to the ESS website and use it.
6. If the hint does not help, click on the url in step 2) of that email where it says “use the following link:”
7. You’ll be taken to a web page that says “Password Regeneration”. Click on the button that says “SUBMIT”
8. Check your email for another message from noreply@tylertech.com, which will include a Temporary Password.
9. Copy that password, go back to the main ESS website, click on “LOG IN” again, and paste it in the Password field to log in (with your Employee ID as your username). Click on “LOG IN”.
10. Once you log in, you will be required to set a new password of your own choosing. Once again, paste your temporary password in to the “Current Password” field.
11. Select a new password and click on “CHANGE”.

If you become LOCKED OUT of your ESS account, please send an email to ITHelpDesk@somervillema.gov .
